George Washington, the first president of the United States appears extensively on all the stamps of the American postal history. His portrait has surmounted in the 1867 stamp series, the portrait appeared in several variations.

The above-shown three cent B grill stamp in the rose print was issued in 1867. The portrait of George Washington is depicted on the stamp facing right with ‘U.S Postage’ on top and the denomination in the lower panel.

George Washington is one of the key figures in the history of the United States. He practically carried the nation on his shoulders through the revolutionary war and oversaw the creation of its constitution.

Around 1000 samples of this stamp were printed, yet there are only four known pieces of this stamp that are preserved. The price of this each stamp is 160,000 US dollars.
