Goan tiatr is one of the finest forms of drama in India. Lucasinho Ribeiro scripted the first tiatr 125 years back. India Post recently released a postage stamp about tiatr to commemorate 125 years of this art form. Goa becomes one of the first states to have a postage stamp on tiatr. These stamps will be available all over the country. Commemorative stamps on famous tiatr artistes may also be released soon.

Several important dignitaries were present during the release event. Efforts are on to take tiatr to international audiences through cultural exchange programmes. The guests said that more and more youngsters are participating in tiatr to take the art form forward. They also discussed the importance of supporting and encouraging young talent. 12 senior tiatr artistes were felicitated at the event.

Today, Titar Academy of Goa and Kala Academy have been encouraging artists to participate in tiatr. Tiatr artistes highlight social issues that are neglected by authorities. It has helped Konkani language gain more popularity.
