Ambedkar Jayanti is celebrated on April 14 to mark the birth anniversary of Dalit icon Bhimrao Ramji Ambedkar, who is remembered as ‘The Father of the Constitution of India’ and the man who fought for the oppressed.
Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar was born today on 14th April in 1891.He was an Indian jurist, economist, politician and social reformer. He pioneered the Dalit Buddhism movement in India and worked tirelessly for their welfare.
He was Independent India's first law minister and the principal architect of the Constitution of India. In 1990, the Bharat Ratna, India's highest civilian award, was posthumously conferred upon Ambedkar.
