On 7th April, today World Health Organization (WHO) celebrates World health day as the global health awareness day. In 1948, the WHO held its first World Health Assembly, it was also decided in this gathering that 7th April each year from 1950 will be celebrated World Health Day.
Today WHO organizes international, regional and local events to celebrate and acknowledge this day. Various government and non-government organizations participate in this event in the interest of Public health issues.
This event is also the eight official global health campaigns marked by WHO. To commemorate this event set of six stamps and a souvenir card was issued by the United Nations Postal Administration. This stamp also honours the 70th Anniversary of the World Health Organization.
