A very rare silver square rupee of Akbar, which weighs around 11.4g, will be auctioned with the base price tag of INR 2,50,000 in the upcoming auction of Todywalla which will be held in Mumbai on 28th April 2018.
This beautiful square silver rupee was issued by Akbar from the mint ‘Urdu’ in the Hijri year 987.The obverse of this coin depicts the legend ‘Jalal ud-din Muhammad Akbar Badshah Gazi’ within a quatrefoil, with Zarb in the right corner and the mint name in the bottom left corner, AH date 987 is written in the centre. The reverse of the coin depicts the Kalima ‘la ilaha illallah muhammadur rasulullah’ within the quatrefoil and name of the four Khalifas at four corners, within the line dotted border.
