Macedonia released the fifth coin in its Zodiac Sign Series representing Taurus. Gold printing, 3-D printing, and a cobalt glass insert is included on the square-shaped 23.3 grams Proof .925 fine silver 100-denar coin.
The obverse features a ring with all the zodiac symbols, encircling a piece of cobalt glass. An image of the Northern sky with the Taurus constellation highlighted in gold is depicted on the blue glass. An illustration of the Solar System and a sky map are featured partially in the background.
Inscriptions in the Macedonian language translates to the Republic of Macedonia and 100 denars. Other inscriptions include the coat of arms of the country and the year of the coin issue, 2018.
The reverse depicts many constellations. Taurus is highlighted and the image is taken from the star atlas “Firmamentum Sobiescianum,” a 17th-century piece of work by Johannes Hevelius.
The cobalt glass insert also includes a portion of Taurus’s image. A small Taurus zodiac symbol is featured above the glass insert. A bull’s head is printed in gold with an inscription of the Solar System in the background. Other inscriptions include TAURUS and AG 925.
The mintage limit for this coin is 7,000 pieces and it can be purchased for $99.90 each.
