Ramakrishna Paramahamsa, an Indian mystic and yogi, was born on 18th February 1836.From a very early age, he showed signs of a spiritual bent of mind and was influenced by several religious traditions, including devotion toward the goddess Kali, Tantra and Vaishnava bhakti, and Advaita Vedanta. Swami Vivekanand, was one of the most important disciples of Sri Ramakrishna Paramahamsa.
After the passing away of Ramakrishna Paramahamsa on 16th August, 1886, Vivekananda founded the Ramakrishna Math and Ramakrishna Mission.
India Post has issued a commemorative stamp 20 Paise on 18th February 1973 in honour of this spiritual guru of New India.
Shri Lanka to has issued a LKR 3.50 commemorative stamp of Ramakrishna Paramahamsa and the celebrating the platinum jubilee of the Ramakrishna Missions’ Student Home in Shri Lanka (1926-2001) .
