India-Iran Joint Philatelic Issue

The Department of Posts issued a set of two stamps Indo–Iran diplomatic relations. Issued in Aug 2004 the stamps feature two great philosophers and mystics: Sant Kabir and Hafiz.India and Iran share centuries of historical and cultural connection. Close links between the two countries have continued in the contemporary era. The joint issue of stamps forms another milestone in India–Iran relations.
Hafiz Shirazi, is a star of rich Persian literature. His poetic heritage includes ghazals, elegies, couplets and inscriptions, whereas, Kabir voiced his philosophy through Bhakti Movemnt (Spiritual Devotion) in 15th Century India. Both of them are responsible to bring awareness among contemporary societies.
Hence, to commemorate the strong bond of past India and Iran issued a joint stamp featuring portrays Hafiz & Kabir: poets, philosophers and mystics. India issued the stamps with the denomination of Rs.15 while, Iranian stamps have the value of 6 Rials.
