Coin Invest Trust released the 2017 .999 Fine Silver 2 oz. Proof Coin for Isle of Man with a mintage limit of 999 pieces. They also released .9999 Gold 0.5 g Proof Version with a mintage limit of 15,000 pieces. The obverse features an effigy of Elizabeth II, the Queen’s name, country name and the year of issue. The reverse depicts Archangel Michael slaying the dragon. Other inscriptions include ANGEL, material, fine content and weight.
The image of Archangel Michael has been an important coin motif from the British gold coins worth six shillings and eight pence that King Edward IV introduced to England in 1465 to replace the noble. “1 Angel Piedfort” coin is the first commemorative coin released after 550 years. The designer drew on historical images. Piedfort’s technical dimensions are unique. They are made of two ounces fine silver with a standard diameter of 38.6 mm, twice the thickness of normal coins. Piedforts have been used since medieval France and England.
Smartminting© technology has enhanced the coin designs to the next level. It is the first coin by CIT that features the new portrait of Elizabeth II by Jody Clark on the obverse.
