100 Years of Banaras Hindu University to be Celebrated with a Commemorative Stamp and Coin

To celebrate the rich history of Banaras Hindu University (BHU), the Union Finance Ministry had decided to release special coins and stamps last year.According to a press release by the university, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had asked the Finance Ministry for making necessary arrangements as per the request of BHU vice-chancellor Professor G C Tripathi.
Coins of Rs 100 will be commemorative while Rs 10 coins will be released for official circulation. The philatelic division of the Postal Department of the Government of India will also issue a special commemorative stamp to mark the occasion.
A competition among university students will be held for finalising designs of the coin and stamp. Both the stamp and coin would be released during the celebratory function to be held on Basant Panchami this year
