First Australian Paper Currency Note Priced at $226,000
2016-02-01 Mon
This one-of-its-kind Australian paper currency issued in 1817 is a collector’s choice worldwide. It was the first paper currency that was printed in Australia and only 100, 10 shilling notes were printed on the first day.The amusing fact is that not even the Bank of New South Wales had a copy in its collection. When the whole world thought that this bill had bitten dust, one lovely note in amazingly good condition almost reincarnated in a Scottish collection. Counted as one of the costliest old notes of the world, this banknote is priced at $226,000.
