Bank of Scotland to Release New £10 Polymer Notes

2017-06-06 Tue

On 29th May, it was announced by the Bank of Scotland that a new polymer £10 note will be released in October. These notes will be printed at De La Rue and it will feature almost the same design as the existing paper version. The new notes will be a bit smaller and will have minor changes in design and security features.

Like all other notes, the country’s greatest literature expert Sir Walter Scott will be featured on the new notes as well. The only difference being that the portrait will be shifted to the right side. The bank’s headquarters building “The Mound” is highlighted with its new position. The 416-yard-long railway bridge called the Glenfinnan Viaduct still remains on the reverse. The new addition to the reverse design is a steam locomotive powered tourist train that looks like a real train running on that route - Jacobite.

Security features are similar to the £5 polymer note that was released last October. The window effect is merged with the actual windows of The Mound, which can be seen on both sides of the note. The note also comes with colour-changing ink and “tactile emboss” to help the visually impaired identify its denomination.
