Farrukhsiyar Gold Pagoda Sold For INR 33,000

Farrukhsiyar was a Mughal Emperor of India who reigned from 1713 AD to 1719 AD. He was the son of Azim ush Shah and the grandson of Bahadur Shah I. He was born in the year 1683 AD, in Aurangabad. He succeeded to the throne of Mughal Empire after Jahandar Shah.

Farrukhsiyar owned his accession to the throne of Mughal Emperor with the help of Sayyid brothers Particularly, Sayyid Hassan Ali Khan Barha, who were chosen as the grand wazir of the Mughal Emperor.

He sat on the throne as the puppet of Sayyid brothers, when he had enmity with these two kings they imprisoned him, blinded him with needles and finally killed him.

This rare gold Pagoda, minted in Imtiyazgarh, weighing around 3.3g, issued during 3rd year of his reign, was sold for INR 33,000 at Rajgor’s Auction. The obverse of the coin is inscribed with rulers name and title. And the reverse of the coin is inscribed with the mint name and regnal year.
