Older Krona Coins are Things of the Past in Sweden

Sweden people are told by the Swedish Central Bank that after 30th June, older 1-, 2- and 5-krona coins will no longer be accepted. However, they will remain legal tender until 30th August but people can only deposit money. These coins made their debut in 2016 with different alloys and new designs that were based on the themes like the sun, wind and water. From the year 1976 to 2012, the old 1 –krona coins were in use, with many circulating commemorative designs. Also, two different types were in use, with the most recent definite design used from 2001 to 2012.Since 1971, the 2 –krona coin had not been issued for circulation, until 2016. Released from 1952 forward, also the changes last year restored the denomination to circulation.
The 5-krona coin was first issued in 1976.
