ICTA Planning to Take Strict Measures to Fight Counterfeits

Beth Deisher, ICTA’s director has expressed her concerns about the improved quality of fake coins that are being produced in China. The Industry Council for Tangible Assets Anti-Counterfeiting Task Force are planning to take some strict measures to counter this serious problem. Deisher spoke about this problem on 29th at a public meeting held along with the Central States Numismatic Society 78th Anniversary Convention in Schaumburg, Ill. The task force was formed in 2016 as a CSNS convention effort which works on donations. It comprises of an 11-member head committee with eight work groups of three to five people for different purposes. The U.S. Secret Service conduct anti-counterfeiting investigations and prosecutions, but the scene changed after the terrorist attacks on 11th Sept 2001.Homeland Security and Customs and Border Protection looks after counterfeit coins and paper money before they enter the country. Deisher also said that China replicates U.S. and world collector coins, bullion pieces, and commemorative issues.
