A hoard of 130 Viking silver coins issued from 800 CE to 1066 CE was discovered in Denmark after two metal detectors found a few of them in a field near Kalvehave Church. This find would be useful for learning historical facts and culture about the Viking civilisation. These silver Viking coins come from Germany, the Netherlands and England. These territories were associated with the Vikings at different points in time. Experts state that commerce and international trade routes were used frequently during this period. Moreover, Anglo-Saxon kings of England paid Viking invaders a large sum of silver coins as tribute between 991 AD and 1018 AD.
The discovered coins will be showcased at Vordingborg Museum after conservators complete the process of preserving the artefacts.
