Horses signify power and might!Remains of horses in India have been claimed to be found in the deposits at Mahagara near Allahabad (dated to around 2265 BC to 1480 BC). The very first literary evidence of horses are found in Rig Veda (RV 5.61.2-3).
Lord Rama is known for performing Ashvamedha Yagna (Horse Sacrifice). This reference is found in Ramayana. Horses are portrayed in various Miniature paintings, sculptures and monuments. Horses are known as ‘Asva’ in Sanskrit.
