A set of 10 stamps issued by Great Britain’s Royal Mail takes a look at Windsor Castle from the inside and the outside.Windsor Castle is one of the most famous buildings in the world and has been a family home to kings and queens for almost a thousand years.
The castle dates back to approximately 1070 when it was founded by William the Conqueror. The original construction took about 16 years. Since then, it has been inhabited almost continuously.
Three se-tenant non-denominated first-class stamps depict photographs of exterior locations: the castle as seen from the Long Walk, the Round Tower, and the Norman Gate.
The other two £1.52 stamps picture the Queen’s Ballroom and the Waterloo Chamber, respectively.
The other four stamps feature interior views of St. George’s Chapel, located on the grounds of Windsor Castle.
Two stamps with the denomination of £1.33 show views of the choir. Banners of the Order of the Garter and a St. George’s cross roof boss are also pictured on two different stamps of the series.
The souvenir sheet shows a photograph of the West Door entrance to the chapel.
