Farrukhsiyar was the Mughal Emperor of India. His reign begins from 1713 to 1719. He was the son of Azim ush Shah and the grandson of Bahadur Shah I.Farrukhsiyar owned his accession to the throne of Mughal Emperor with the help of Sayyid brothers Particularly, Sayyid Hassan Ali Khan Barha, who were chosen as the grand wazir of the Mughal Emperor.
He sat on the throne as the puppet of Sayyid brothers, when he had enmity with these two kings’ they imprisoned him, blinded him with the needles and finally killed him. Later, Sayyid brothers placed his cousin Rafi-ud –Darjat on the throne in 1719.
One of his gold Mohur, minted in Khujista Buniyad, which weighs around 10.9g, was sold for INR 46,000 at Todywalla Auction held in Mumbai on 23rd September 2016. Obverse of the this coin reads as ‘Sikka Zad Az Fazl-E-Haq Bar Sim-o-Zar Badshah Bhar-O-Bar Farrukhsiyar’ and the reverse of the coin reads as ‘Sanah RY; Julus Maimanat Manus; Zarb Khujista Bunyad’ This is a rare coin.
