Gold Sovereigns and Silver Bars worth £30,000 Found Behind a Sofa

Gold sovereigns and heavy silver bars from 1960s worth £30,000 were found behind a homeowner’s sofa in Northamptonshire. The person (who wants to stay anonymous) found the coins when he wanted to change his residence. Auctioneers who were doing a routine house clearance found the coins in a heavy suitcase. The suitcase had over hundred 22-carat gold coins which were worth £200 each. They were minted between 1958 and 1967 and feature the St George slaying a dragon design.Sovereigns were valued at £1 and were used commonly till 1932. The discovered coins were put up for sale at the JP Humbert Auctions in Whittlebury. Each piece was sold with separate bids ranging from £190 to £480.
