Nasir Shah’s Coin Sold at the Whopping price of INR 2, 50,000

Nasir Shah was the Sultan of Malwa; his reigned from AD 1510-1520; (AH 906-916). He was a son of Ghiyath Shah. Malwa Sultanate was a late medieval kingdom Probably of Turco-Afgan origin. This sultanate was founded by Dilawar Khan Gauri who was the governor of Delhi Sultanate in Malwa.Nasir Shah took a keen interest in his coinage. He issued his coins in gold, silver and copper; most of his coins are in square shape, however, his silver coins are also found in round and in diamond shapes.
One of his Nazarana silver tanka which weighs around 10.9g, struck in the year AH 907 was sold for INR 2, 50,000 at Todywalla Auction held in Mumbai on 3rd February 2016. The Obverse of this coin reads as ‘Ankeh Bar Zar Mohur Zil-Allah Fi Al-Ardan Zadeh’ meaning ‘The one who strikes the stamp on gold of the shadow of God on the earth’ and the reverse of the coin reads as ‘Shah Nasir ibn Shah Sultan Ghiyath Al-Din Zadeh’ meaning ‘Shah Nasir, son of and born Sultan Ghiyath Al-Din’ This coin is Extremely rare.
