Fath Khan Coin Sold for INR 65, 000

Fath Khan was the son of Firuz Shah Tughluq. In the year AH 760, he was given insignia of royalty by his father and was allowed to strike the coins in his own name. He was also appointed as the governor of eastern provinces of sultanate which later became independent sultanate of Jaunpur.He had struck coins in gold and billion. His gold tanka weighs around 10 to 11g. His billion coins are found in two denominations, Billion Tanka weighs around 9 to 10g and unit weighs around 3 to 4 g. Names of the caliphs which are found on his coins are Abul Fath and Abu Abd Allah.
One of his gold tanka which weighs around 10.9g was sold for INR 65,000 at Todywalla Auction held in Mumbai on 22nd April 2016. The obverse of the coin is inscribed as “Fathkhan Firuz Shah Jall Allah Zillalahu Jalalahu. And the Reversed of the coin was inscribed as “Fi Zaman Al-Imam Amir Al-Muminin Abul Fath Al-Mutasid Billah Khulidat Khilafatuhu. Mint name and date is not clearly visible on the coin. This coin is very rare.
