Darjeeling Himalayan Railway aka the toy train is narrow gauge railway that serves the area between Jaipalguri to Darjeeling. Built by British in late 1800s the Darjeeling railway has now been declared as World Heritage Site by UNESCO.India post issued commemorative stamp on Centenary of Darjeeling Himalayan Railway on 18th December 1982. This se – tenant block of four comes with the denomination of Rs.2 and 85 Paise depicting an image of the railway and a landscape.
This is the 2nd Railway to have this honour given to. The first such railway is Semmering Railway of Austria.
