Lithuania Commemorates Its Language With A €2 Coin

The Central Bank of Lithuania released a coin to celebrate the Lithuanian language. This €2 coin is the first Lithuanian anniversary coin and has a mintage of 1 million pieces to ensure they will be in circulation throughout the country. The language is believed to be the most archaic spoken Indo-European language.The obverse features the Lithuanian word ‘ACIU’ which means ‘Thank You’. It is one of the first words learnt by children and people who have just been introduced to the language.
