On 19th August, the Royal Mint issued a crown set with four 5 Pounds, .925 Silver, 28 Grams coloured coins called “Portraits of Britain” celebrating the most popular landmarks in U.K. that are either National Parks or areas which are protected to preserve its unpolluted environment.

The Giant’s Causeway is located in Antrim, Northern Ireland and is renowned for its over 40,000 polygonal columns of layered basalt, which formed after a volcanic eruption 60 million years ago.

The Lake District National Park was established in 1951 to preserve the area’s special qualities and limit threats to its landscape. Civilizations have been living here and adjusting to the extremely cold weather just after the final years of the Ice Age.

Snowdonia is the largest National Park in Wales and has the highest mountain in England and Wales, as well as the largest natural lake in Wales.

The White Cliffs of Dover is known for the White Cliffs composed mainly of soft, fine-grained, white chalk that gives it the bright white colour.

The designs were initially created as paintings in watercolor and ‘trichromatic’ colour printing process was used to recreate them on the coins.

The obverses of all the four coins feature the common Queen Elizabeth II
