Mangarh is believed to be a fort built by Islam Shah Suri somewhere in Punjab. Though very scant historical resources are available on the above fort, the name is mixed with Mankot fort built by Islam Shah Suri.

The above copper dam weighing approx 20g is struck at Mangarh by Akbar in the hijri year 970. The dam is minted in Suri rulers' paisa style.

The interesting feature of the coins is Swastika motif in the middle in the obverse. Earlier, Suri Sultan Muhammad Adil Shah minted coins with Swastika till the end of his reign in Hijri 964 (1556 CE). The later emission of half dams and dams in the same fashion with Swastika were minted by Akbar.
