Manikpur (Karrah) near Prayagraj was a major administrative and military center under Delhi Sultanate, Jaunpur Sultanate, and early Mughals. Alauddin Khalji was governor here before becoming Sultan.
It had a strategic river forts controlled trade and routes. Importance of the place declined after Akbar established Allahabad (Akbar renamed Prayagraj to Allahabad) as a stronger center.
The above is a copper dam weighing approx 20g issued by Akbar in the yea 98x with the mint name near-completely visible on obverse. The reverse has date written out in Persian Navshat wa Hashtadah wa... and numeral 98x.
Note the resemblance of Nava shata of Ashta Dasha of Sanskrit in written out date.
