Deva Raya I (1370 – 1423 CE) was an emperor of the Vijayanagara Empire from the Sangama Dynasty. He succeeded Bukka Raya II.
He issued gold pagodas (Varaha/Hon), its fractions and other denominations featuring typical Vijayanagara motifs, such as deities or symbols on the obverse and legends in Kannada/NandiNagari on the reverse.
The above coin is Gold 1/2 Varaha- Hon weighing 1.64g.
The Obvverse depicts Lord Vishnu seated in Padmasana with Goddess Lakshmi, while the Reverse is inscribed with three lines Nandinagari legend “Sri Pratapa Devaraya”
