Gold Gadyana (3.78g) of Barma Bhupala, a powerful feudatory ruler of the Torgale region (located in modern-day Dharwad district, Karnataka), was sold for INR 5,50,000 in an auction held in Mumbai on January 4, 2026.The obverse features a warrior running to the right, holding a sword, with a #crescent moon on the left and the sun on the right above. The reverse bears a three-line Kannada legend: 'Sri Nigalamkamala Damdinagova.'
The legend incorporates 'Nigalankamalla', a popular martial title used by rulers in #SouthIndia, particularly during the Kalachuri and related periods.
