Tipu Sultan minted gold Pagodas, also known as Faruqi, weighing 3.4 grams, in Seringapatam or Pattan, Nagar, Dharwar, and Khwurshed-Sawad, in three varieties.

Variety I was issued during the first four years of his reign and minted in Pattan and Nagar.

The obverse bears the legend "Huwa As-Sultan Al-Adil Sanah 1198." The reverse carries the legend "He Nagar RY 2."
