In the first year of his reign, Tipu Sultan issued coins minted in #Pattan and #Nagar. By his fifth regnal year, the number of mints had increased to eight. Tipu Sultan assigned unique names to all his coin denominations. All #copper coins, except the Double-Paisa or Othmani, were named after stars or planets.Certain coins bear the Persian letters, such as Alif, Be, and Te, above the elephant on the obverse, with the mint name and date on the reverse.
