The second stamp in the Archaeological and Historical Monuments Definitive series, 1949, is a sculpture of the Konark War Horse from the SunTemple, Odisha. This 6-pies stamp from the First Definitive Series has a Watermark of Multiple Stars.

The gigantic temple with twelve pairs of ornamented wheels dragged by seven horses was built in the 13th century by King Narsimhadeva I of the #EasternGangaDynasty.

The stamp depicts one of the two warhorses on the southern side of the temple. The sculpture shows a headless warrior standing beside the horse, which is depicted crushing a soldier under its hooves.

The sculpture has been the Emblem of the Government of Odisha since 1964.
