In an auction held in Ahmedabad on February 8, 2025, a Gold 4 Pagoda (Ahmadi) of Mysore Sultan Tipu Sultan, weighing 13.7g, was sold for INR 20,00,000.Tipu Sultan issued this Patan mint gold 4 Pagoda in the Mauludi year 1217, during the 7th year of his reign.
Obverse: Persian legend 'Muhammad Ahmed Din dar jahan asht roshan ze fath Haider Haidari, He zarb Patan sal-e Sarab Sanah 1217.
Reverse: Persian legend Huwa as-Sultan, Al Wahid al adil tarikh julus saal sakh seum bahari; sanah 7 julusi.
Tipu Sultan named all his gold and silver coins after Muslim saints, caliphs, and imams. One such name invented by Tipu Sultan is the four pagodas, also known as Ahmadi.
