The Indian Coast Guard (ICG) is a maritime law enforcement agency which conducts search and rescue operations within India's territorial waters.

It was started on 1 February 1977 and formally established on 18 August 1978 under the Coast Guard Act of 1978. It operates under the Ministry of Defence.

India Post issued a commemorative Se-Tenant set of 4 Postage Stamps featuring images of the Indian Coast Guard's Dornier Aircraft, Helicopter, Hovercraft and a fast boat in 2008.
