Maha Kumbha
2025-01-17 Fri
Kumbh Mela is an important religious pilgrimage held every 12 years at one of the four holy river sites: Prayagraj, Haridwar, Nashik, and Ujjain. According to Hindu Puranas, at Samudra Manthan, the gods and demons churned the ocean for Amrit and battled for the "Amrit Kumbh," a pot of nectar that bestows immortality. The Kumbh event in 2025 is called Maha Kumbh, which comes every 144 years and is considered the greatest human gathering in the world. India Post issued a commemorative postage stamp of 500 Paise (or Rs.5/-) to commemorate the "Kumbh Mela" in 2019.Latest News
