On 16th December in 1773, a pivotal moment in history took place that worked as a catalyst for the American Revolution.

The Boston Tea Party was a political protest organized by the Sons of Liberty that revolted against the Tea Act of 1773 which allowed British merchants to sell tea for low prices undermining local merchants.

The United States Postal Services issued this postage stamp in 1973 to commemorate the Bicentennial Anniversary of the Boston Tea Party.
