On 10th December 1913, Rabindranath Tagore was awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature for his "profoundly sensitive, fresh, and beautiful verse," which he skillfully expressed in English, making it part of Western literature.Tagore, a Bengali polymath, was a poet, playwright, composer, philosopher, social reformer, and painter. He significantly reshaped Bengali literature and music and influenced Indian art through Contextual Modernism in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
India Post issued a #postage #stamp to commemorate his 150th Birth Anniversary in 2011.
