Mughal Mint Awadh

The ancient name of Awadh is Ayodhya, located in the Faizabad district of Uttar Pradesh. It was one of the Subahs of Akbar.During the ancient period, the region of Awadh was part of the Kosala kingdom. The Muslim invaders took control of Awadh in the 12th century, and the Mughal Empire included it in the 16th century.
The obverse is inscribed with the Name and Title of Akbar and AH 96x date between two parallel lines, the mint at the bottom. The reverse is engraved with the Kalima in a wavy diamond, with names of caliphs around.
