On 27th November 1907, Harivanshrai Bachchan a famous Hindi Poet and Writer was born in Allahabad.

He was a prominent figure in the Nayi Kavita literary movement of the early 20th Century and gained recognition through Hindi Kavi Sammelans, for his early work Madhushala.

India Post issued a commemorative postage stamp in honor of this Padma Bhushan awardee in 2003 for his service to Hindi Literature.
