Sir Chandrasekhara Venkata Raman was born on 7th November 1888, in Tiruchirapalli.C.V. Raman has been a recipient of many accolades and honors throughout his career for his discovery known as Raman Scattering. He was elected as a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1929 and was knighted in 1930.
India Post issued postage stamps in 1971 and 2009, to commemorate this Nobel laureate whose work on Light Scattering has been influential in the Growth of Science in India.
