Karnataka celebrates the Kittur Vijayotsava in remembrance of the Rani Channamma who defended her fort against the British army in 1824.She fought with the British against their Doctrine of Lapse Policy and is regarded as one of the first women to lead an armed resistance against them.
India Post issued a postage stamp to commemorate the 200th Kittur Vijayotsava and honor the brave Rani Channamma.
