Rs. 1000 Banknote

The Reserve Bank of India, in October 2000, had issued banknotes in the denomination of Rs.1000 in the Mahatma Gandhi series, featuring the leader's portrait in the watermark and the signature of Dr. Bimal Jalan, the Governor of the RBI.

The note's length is 177 mm, and its width is 73 mm. It is printed using a combination of offset and intaglio processes. This is the first note with intaglio printing.

This Series was demonetized in 2016 by the Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi to curb the rampant Shadow Economy and increase Cashless Digital transactions.
