On September 19, 2000, Karnam Malleshwari became the first Indian woman to win an Olympic bronze medal at the Sydney International Convention Centre.She lifted 110 kg in the Snatch and 130 kg in the Clean and Jerk categories, totaling 240 kg, and became the only Indian Olympian to win a medal in 2000.
