Chandragupta II, also known as Vikramaditya, was one of the most powerful rulers of the Gupta Empire. Chandragupta II issued this Archer type', Gold Heavy Dinar, which weighs 8.32g, during his rule.The obverse features King nimbate standing to the left, holding an arrow in the right hand and a bow at in the left hand, ‘Chandra’ below the arm. The reverse features goddess Laxmi, seated on a throne. She holds a cornucopia on the left and a fillet on the right. Her feet are resting on a lotus, all within a dotted border. There is a Tamgha on the left and a legend in Brahmi on the right that reads 'Shri Vikramah'.
The gold-heavy dinar was sold for INR 1,10,000 at Todywalla Auction House held in Mumbai on 4 May 2024.
