Silver Double Rupee of Mysore King Tipu Sultan

Tipu Sultan, also known as the Tiger of Mysore, was the ruler of Mysore. During his reign, he introduced several administrative innovations, including his coinage. One of his innovations can be seen through his coins. He introduced a new coin denomination and various new coin types during his reign. He also introduced the Mauludi calendar known as the Mauludi Era.Tipu Sultan issued this Silver Double Rupee, also called Haidari, 22.84g, minted at Pattan. The obverse is inscribed with the legend Ahmad Din Dar Jahann Ast Raushan Ze Fatah Haidar He Zarb Pattan Saal-i-Azal-Sanah 1198 Hijri. The reverse is inscribed with the legend Huwa As-Sultan Al-Waheed Al-Adil Seum Bahari Saal Azal Sanah 3 Julus.
