On 29th March 1857, Sepoy Mangal Pandey fired the first bullet on the British Soldiers thus giving rise to the Indian Freedom Struggle.

India Post issued a postage stamp in 1984, to commemorate the Indian Soldier who gave rise to the First War of Independence.
