Biju Patnaik also known as the architect of modern Orissa was born On This Day.

Hailed as the Hero of Kalinga, he also assisted Indonesia's fight for freedom from the Dutch in 1947 by flying its leaders to India, despite the risk of being shot down. For which he received the highest civilian award from Indonesia, the Bhumi Putra, and politely declined a large tract of land offered to him by the Indonesian government.
