The first of the Ten Sikh Gurus, Guru Nanak, is the founder of Sikhism. On the full moon day of the month of Katak (October–November), known as Kartik Pooranmashi, the birth of Guru Nanak Purab is commemorated globally.

He taught people about the one God or Ik Onkar as he traveled far and wide.
