Observed annually #OnThisDay, International Day of Peace, also known as World Peace Day , and is dedicated to promoting peace in the age of war and violence, with even ceasefires in disputed regions of the world.

Every year, according to tradition, the Peace Bell is rung to mark the beginning of the Day.

In 2005, India Post issued a commemorative stamp to create awareness of the importance of peace, as India itself believes in the doctrine of non-violence.
