Michelangelo, the Italian artist of the High Renaissance, excelled in sculpture, painting, and poetry.On, 8th September 1504, Michelangelo unveiled his famous "Statue of David" in Florence.
The statue, carved from a single block of rejected marble, stands 14 feet tall and weighs over 5 tons.
In 1873, the statue was moved to the #AccademiaGallery due to weather damage and has been preserved by them ever since
